players will have to give up 20% of their match fees as fine for maintaining a
slow over-rate against India in the fourth T20 International held at at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, ICC said in a release.

Explaining the reason for the penalty, ICC’s release further said, “In
accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player
Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players were
fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl
in the allotted time.

The charges were imposed by ICC Elite panel match referee Javagal Srinath after Eoin Morgan’s side was ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

Morgan pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so a formal hearing was snot conducted. 

Umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan, Nitin Menon who were on-field during the Thursday’s match along with the third umpire Virendar Sharma, levelled these charges.

India on Thursday won the match by eight runs on to balance the five-match series at
2-2, paving the way for a winners-take-it-all final game at the same venue on
Saturday.
