In the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings, South
Africa
batters Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen took a giant leap
after guiding their team to a 3-0 clean sweep against India in the recently
concluded ODI series.

De Kock, who scored 124 in the third ODI at Cape
Town, jumped four places to burst into the top five of the ICC batter’s
rankings for the first time since the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. The
southpaw amassed 229 runs in three matches.

Van der Dussen, who made his ODI debut in 2019
against Pakistan at Port Elizabeth, scored 218 runs in the ODI series against India. He scored an unbeaten 129 in the first ODI at Paarl in South
Africa’s 31 runs win over India.

Due to his sterling form, van der Dussen made 10
places progress to reach his career-best ranking of 10. Captain Temba Bavuma,
who scored 110 in the first ODI, has also been benefitted from the series win.
He reached a career-best 59th position from 80th. The latest development in ICC
ODI rankings came in the wake of the Afghanistan-Netherlands series and the
last match of the Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe series.

Meanwhile, India opener Shikhar Dhawan, the leading
scorer for India against South Africa with 169 runs, has moved up one place to
15th in the ODI rankings, which is topped by Pakistan captain Babar Azam with
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in second and third positions, respectively.
Rishabh Pant is up by five places to 82nd.

Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah scored 153 runs
against the Netherlands which lifted him seven places to joint-36th while
Hashmatullah Shahidi is up by nine places to 53rd. For the Netherlands, Scott
Edwards’s series-topping 208 runs see him move up 97 places to 100th. Charith
Asalanka of Sri Lanka is another one to progress, from 52nd to a career-best
46th position.

South Africa’s bowlers also have made significant
gains in Wednesday’s update. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is back in the top 20
after five wickets in the series and spinner Keshav Maharaj is at a career-best
33rd position. Andile Phehlukwayo is up by seven places to 52nd after taking
six wickets in the series.
