Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi, on Wednesday, said that she will continue to fight for justice for the victims of sexual crimes in the country, reports ANI. She also added that “everyone together needs to raise their voice against rape”.

“Justice has been delivered to
my daughter. But it doesn’t mean that I will sit in silence. I’ll continue to
fight for justice for all rape victims. Everyone together needs to raise their
voice against rape,” ANI quoted her as saying.

Nirbhaya’s
mother also questioned and urged for the reparation of procedural loopholes in
the justice system which led to a delay of eight long and arduous years.

“It
has been 8 years today since the heinous crime against my daughter was
committed. Our case was clear & still it took 8 yrs to get justice. The
govt & courts needs to think about why it took so long, and make changes to
the laws.”

Nirbhaya’s father, on the other hand, joined an online petition started by NGOs Save the Children and Yuva to mark the eighth year of the gruesome gangrape case, according to PTI.

Justice was delivered to Nirbhaya after four of the six perpetrators were executed
on March 20 this year, marking an end to a years-long battle that became a symbol
of revolution for the dignity and safety of women in society.

Another two of the six convicts were Ram Singh who allegedly committed suicide in the Tihar Jail days after the trial began in the case and another juvenile who was released in 2015 after spending three years in a correctional home.
