An avalanche prompted by a glacier breach at Joshimath was reported in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district in Tapovan area on Sunday. The disaster was followed by the rise of water levels in the Dhauliganga river resulting in significant damages at the site of the Rishi Ganga power project. As many as 150 people are feared dead and several houses were swept away so far. Rescue operations underway.
