Uttarakhand

Answer: Karnataka

Mysore Dasara is the state festival of the Indian state of
Karnataka is. It is a ten-day celebration that begins with Navaratri and ends
with Vijayadashami. The event is held on the tenth day of the Hindu calendar
month of Ashvin, which occurs between September and October in the Gregorian
calendar.

Dasara, Navratri, and Vijayadashami are Hindu
festivals that commemorate the triumph of virtue over evil. According to Hindu
mythology, Goddess Chamundeshwari (Durga) defeated the monster Mahishasura on
this day. The demon Mahishasura was slain by the Goddess, giving the city the
name Mysuru.

During this event, the Mysuru tradition honours soldiers and the
state fighting for the greater good by ritually worshipping and exhibiting the
state sword, weapons, elephants, and horses, as well as the Hindu Devi goddess
in her warrior form (predominantly) and the Vishnu avatar Rama. The king of
Mysuru customarily presides over the rituals and a large procession.

The city of Mysuru has a long history of commemorating the Dasara
festival with pomp and circumstance. In 2019, the Dasara celebration in Mysuru
celebrated its 409th year, but evidence shows that the Vijayanagara Empire
monarchs celebrated the event in Karnataka state in the 15th century.
