India beat England by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth and final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. With the 3-1 series win, India has now qualified for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. 

India scored 365 in the first innings that saw Rishabh Pant hitting 101 off 118 balls after the top-order departed in the first session and put up a partnership with all-rounder Washington Sundar, who remained unbeaten at 96. The duo added 113 runs in a mere 26 overs and comfortably took India past England’s first innings total.

Trailing by 160 runs, the visitors struggled right from the beginning in the second innings with spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel continuing their dominance.  

Patel, who picked up four wickets in the first innings, ended the match with 9 wickets while Ashwin finished with 8 wickets. 

Ben Stokes, who scored 55 in the first innings, departed scoring two runs in the second, while skipper Joe Root 5 and 30 in the first and second innings respectively. The best batsman for the visitors was clearly Dan Lawrence, who scored 46 and 50.
