India is set to celebrate Dussehra on Sunday amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Union Health Ministry had last week issued guidelines and urged people to celebrate the 10th day of Navratri modestly this year. 

Organisers have been asked to prepare a detailed site plan that complies with thermal screening, 6-feet physical distancing and sanitisation by the Home Ministry. 

As per the guidelines, separate entry and exit gates for the visitors should be arranged while temperature setting of all air conditioning devices should be in the range of 24-30°C. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to wish the nation on Dussehra and emphasised on the victory of good over evil. 

President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to wish everyone on Sunday. He said, “Greetings and good wishes to fellow citizens on Dussehra. This festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil.”

He added, “May this festival of joy and happiness protect us from the evil effects of the ongoing pandemic and bring prosperity and affluence to the people of the country.”

Also known as Vijayadashmi, Dussehra is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil. It is belived that on Dussehra, Goddess Durga killed the demon king Mahishasura and Lord Ram defeated Raavana.
