Droupadi Murmu is India’s 15th President, first tribal and second woman to hold the post. The 64-year-old beat opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
A total of 4754 votes were polled, out of which 4701 valid and 53 invalid. Murmu secured 2824 first preference votes-value of which is 6,76,803, way past the 5,28,491 needed for majority.
