Eid-Ul-Adha, the feast of sacrifice, is being celebrated in India on Saturday but the celebrations have been muted owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Muslims in other parts of the world celebrated the festival on Friday.

Eid Ul-Adha also called Eid Qurban and Bakrid in India is one of the two significant festivals celebrated by Muslims across the globe. Celebrated as the ‘festival of sacrifice’ it falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It also marks the end of the annual Hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca.

People in Delhi’s Jama Masjid offered prayers and exchanged greetings.

Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest tower, was lit up with the message Eid Takbeer (Allah is the greatest) on Friday. The light show will continue every day until Sunday after the Isha prayers. The Arab nations are celebrating Eid on Friday.
