India reported 12,428 new COVID-19 cases, 356 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry data released on Tuesday. While the number of recoveries stood at 15,951, the active caseload was at 163,816.

Out of 12,428 new cases and 356 deaths reported nationally; 6,664 cases and 53 deaths were reported in Kerala, yesterday.

A total of 601,901,543 samples were tested up to October 25; of which 1,131,826 were tested on October 25.

As far as the COVID-19 doses provided are concerned, the data showed that over 107.22 have been given to States/UTs till now. More than 12.37 crore balance and doses are still available with them.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.

On October 21, India achieved a major milestone in its vaccination programme against COVID-19 as the cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100-crore mark, resulting in celebratory events in parts of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hailed the landmark, reached in little over nine months time since the countrywide vaccination drive was launched on January 16, as a “triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore”.
