Unlike the other parts of the world, India is experiencing a decrease in COVID-19 cases and death. A detailed project that was done by a group named ‘Project: Jeevan Raksha’ said that India will not have a trend of increasing cases.

Mysore Sanjeev, the convenor of the initiative, told The Indian Express that a 72% drop in insurance claims (non-government) was observed during October as opposed to the numbers in September.

“In September, there were 1.55 lakh claims, while it dropped to 0.41 lakh in October (across the country). This validates that in October, despite it being the festive season and limited restriction, COVID hospitalisation has dropped considerably,” he explained.

He also added that there was a 60% fall in insurance claims (non-government) for COVID-19 deaths in October. “In September, there were 4,074 death claims whereas, in October, it dropped to 1,688,” the report mentioned.

As per a report in The Indian Express, the initiative is of the opinion that India is estimated “to report 0.35 million new (COVID-19) cases between November 11 and December 10, only 2.3% of the estimated 15 million global new COVID-19 cases.”

Adding to the cases will be the Indian state of Kerala that is touted to report most cases. Kerala is also estimated to report nearly 1,200 more deaths, constituting 35% of all deaths pan India.

On November 22, India recorded 8,488 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 538 days. This took the country’s total tally of COVID-19 cases to 34,518,901, while the active cases declined to 118,443, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death toll climbed to 465,911 with 249 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 45 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 148 consecutive days now.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
