Australian opener
Will Pucovski on Thursday failed a fitness test, prompting his removal from the
first XI scheduled to go up against India in the fourth Test, reported AFP.

The 22-year-old
made his debut in the Sydney Test, performing under pressure and scoring a
tight 62 in the first innings, eventually dislocating his shoulder while
fielding in the Test.

“He tried to
train this morning and didn’t quite come up, so he will have a bit of work to
do with our medicos, I’d imagine, to see where he goes from here”, AFP quoted
Australian captain Tim Paine as saying regarding the young batsman’s current
condition, who further added that Marcus Harris would be replacing Pucovski in
the squad.

Paine further said
he expected the Pucovski-Harris swap to be the only change in the squad which would
be otherwise remaining the same as the third Test.

The four-Test
series is currently tied at a 1-1 level prior to the Brisbane Test.

The replacement to
Pucovski, Harris played his debut Test at Adelaide against India two years ago,
playing a total of nine Tests but not featuring even once since Australia’s Ashes-win
in England last year.

Decribed by Paine
as a ‘no fuss’ player, Harris would be put up against David Warner in the
opening pair.
