The International Day of Happiness is celebrated every year on March 20 across the globe. The aim behind celebrating the day is to spread awareness and make people understand that happiness is one of the best gifts that you can give to people. 

The International Day of Happiness is an effort by the United Nations to encourage the idea of happiness and make sure that everyone attains happiness and it becomes a fundamental human goal.

Since 2013, when the day was first celebrated, the United Nations has observed the days as a way to recognise the significance of happiness in the lives of people throughout the world. 

The day was founded by Jayme Illien, CEO of the UN New World Order project in 2006. Though, on March 20, 2013, the first-ever International Day of Happiness was celebrated.

This year’s theme is “Happiness For All, Forever”. The day observes happiness as the most important need in any human’s life and it also links to overall welfare of humans.

It establishes the role of happiness, which is important while setting public policy objectives. It is linked to equitable economic growth which leads to sustainable development and the overall well-being of people.
