Royal Challengers Bangalore outplayed Kolkata Knight Riders in match 28 of the Indian Premier League on Monday with an 82-run win, thanks to a brilliant knock by AB de Villiers and some clinical bowling by spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar.
Royal Challengers had set a target of 195 for Kolkata Knight Riders to chase thanks to a brilliant knock of 73 off 33 balls by AB de Villiers.
Openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch were off to a steady start but Padikkal departed after scoring 32 followed by Finch who scored 47.
Skipper Virat Kohli then stood steady and went on to give complete support to de Villiers, who hit the KKR bowlers all around. Two of his sixes went outside the stadium as well.
Debutant Tom Banton failed to make an impact and was out for 8 runs, followed by Nitish Rana. Opener Shubman Gill was run out after scoring 34 from 25 balls. Washington Sundar scalped both Rana as well as Morgan.
Last match’s hero Dinesh Karthik departed for just one run. Andre Russell made a fiery cameo with a 10 ball 16. But RCB bowlers were able to restrict KKR to 112 runs.
