Dinesh Karthik went on to score his first fifty of IPL 2020 in 22 balls as Kolkata Knight Riders recovered from 25/2 in the sixth over to finish the innings at 164 runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders lost in form Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana in quick succession and were reeling at 25 for the loss of two wickets. Eoin Morgan, with his not so prolific IPL stats and Shubman Gill, stitched a close to run a ball stand as they added 63 runs to the KKR total before the English captain was outfoxed by Ravi Bishnoi. With 60 runs on the boards after ten overs, KKR had a mountain to climb, Captain Dinesh Karthik then stepped in with the bat, to power his team to a 160 run total

The Kolkata captain started his knock in a cautious manner but decided to crunch a six over long-on as Mujeeb ur Rahman’s carrom ball dropped short. It was just the first of Karthik’s many exploits. He drove through debutant Arshdeep Singh’s over by hitting three boundaries and then taking Chris Jordan for 14 runs off 3 balls. He hammered Shami around the park to replicating the damage he caused to the Bangladeshis in the Nidhas trophy.
This innings marked Dinesh Karthik’s fastest 50, the first one also coming in 22 balls against Punjab, in Indore. However, with the pressure to cross the 170 run mark Karthik was run out on the last ball of the innings. He scored 58 in 29 balls.
