England and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder
Ben Stokes on Tuesday was ruled out of IPL 2021 due to a finger fracture.
Stokes sustained the injury during the Rajasthan-based franchise’s match against
Punjab Kings, PTI reported.

He would remain in India for a week,

“Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the IPL
following a broken finger in last night’s game. He will stay with the Royals
and support the rest of the group in the upcoming matches”, Rajasthan Royals
said in a tweet late on Tuesday.

“Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes
injured a finger on his left hand while fielding during the team’s match
against Punjab Kings on 12 April 2021 in Mumbai.

Subsequent investigations revealed that
he sustained a broken finger, which will unfortunately rule him out of the
remainder of IPL 2021 season”, PTI quoted the IPL side as saying in a statement,
which further added that everyone in the squad admired Stokes for being an asset
to the team and that they were delighted with the all-rounder’s decision to stay
back and support the squad.

Reportedly, Stokes sustained the injury
while taking a catch that made Punjab Kings batsman Chris Gayle return to the
pavilion.

Injuring his hand, the all-rounder did
not bowl more than one over in the match.
