After never winning a game at Chepauk since 2011, the Delhi Capitals, powered by Amit Mishra’s four-for, kept their calm to beat Mumbai Indians by six wickets. The Capitals chased down an below-par target of 138 runs with five balls to spare.

Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for Delhi with 45 runs off 42 balls, setting a much-needed platform for the team to face Boult and Bumrah in the death. The Capitals opener- who is also the orange cap holder – stitched a 50-run stand with Steve Smith (33) before the Aussie was trapped leg before by Pollard.

Mumbai Indians bowlers, who were pretty much in the game by the 18th over, bowled three no-balls as Hetmyer and Lalit Yadav finished comfortably. For Mumbai, it was Jayant Yadav (1/25), who emerged with the best figures. Bumrah, Pollard and Chahar got one wicket each.

In the first innings, Amit Mishra took four wickets as the Delhi Capitals restricted the Mumbai Indians to 137/9. Mishra clean bowled Ishan Kishan after dismissing Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard. Avesh Khan also took two wickets. Meanwhile, Rohit top-scored for Mumbai with a 30-ball 44-run knock.

Talking about the loss, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team should’ve capitalized after the brisk start he and Suryakumar got.

“We aren’t able to capitalize on our starts and we need to understand as a batting unit. But you have to give credit to the Delhi bowlers, they kept it tight and kept taking wickets. We knew dew would come in but we have seen that it’s not all that difficult to grip the ball in the last few games. Dew isn’t the factor, we need to play smart cricket to win games which we didn’t do today,” Sharma said.

With this win, Delhi move to the second place on the points table.
