Kolkata Knight Riders have beaten the
Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League’s Qualifier 2 to book a berth in
the final. They won a thrilling encounter which was decided in the last
over.

Eoin Morgan’s men have been in
sensational form in the second leg of IPL 2021. They have performed
consistently and registered 6 wins and 2 losses in their last 8 matches.

The Knight Riders dominated the match
right from the start. They managed to restrain Delhi Capitals’ star-studded
batting line-up for a meagre total of 135 runs with the loss of five wickets.

The bowling attack led by Varun Chakravarthy
managed to put keep Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant
and Shreyas Iyer quiet.

This outstanding bowling performance was
followed by an impressive start by the KKR’s openers Shubman Gill and Venkatesh
Iyer who registered an opening partnership of 96 runs.

They looked to be in control of the
innings until the loss of the second wicket. Nitish Rana’s wicket started a domino
effect with Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan and Sunil Narine all
departing without opening their accounts.

Four established batsmen departing for a
duck was certainly a sight to see and the Delhi Capitals looked to be getting
back into the match but the hopes of a dreamy comeback were squashed soon by
Rahul Tripathi, but Delhi managed to get very close to a win.

Kolkata needed six runs off the last two
balls with a new batsman on the non-striker’s end. But Tripathi did not
let the nerves to get to him as he smashed the ball out of the park, winning
the match for his side with one ball left to be bowled.

Just like that, Delhi Capitals’ dreams of lifting their first ever IPL title did not come to fruition yet again.
