The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched a six-run win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai to go top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) table. Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed three key batsmen, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad, in the 17th over to jolt the Sunrisers and hand RCB the win. SRH were chasing 150 on a slow Chepauk track.

Earlier, Glenn Maxwell shined bright with his seventh IPL fifty as RCB scored 149/8 against SRH. SRH derailed RCB’s innings with a flurry of dismissals, returning skipper Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Washington Sundar and Dan Christian back to the pavilion in quick succession.

SRH skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Here are the highlights of the match:

. RCB win! What a turnaround from Kohli’s men. Seemed down and out halfway through the chase but a brilliant turnaround sees them grab the two points and go top of the table.

. Rashid Khan is out. Tries to complete a difficult second run, but is well short of the crease as Siraj makes no mistake with the throw and de Villiers does the rest.

. SRH need 14 runs from the last over. Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are in the middle.

. Shahbaz Ahmed gets three key wickets in one over, dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad, to bring RCB right back in the contest. (SRH score: 116/5 from 17 overs)

. Kyle Jamieson gets the big breakthrough wicket of SRH skipper David Warner. The Aussie southpaw is furious with himself as he whacks a slow, half-tracker from the Kiwi pacer straight to Dan Christian down at long-on. (SRH score: 96/2 from 13.2 overs).

. David Warner leads the chase from the front with his 49th IPL fifty. Gets to the landmark with a well-taken double, gets within the crease just in time to get to the landmark. (SRH score: 91/1 from 12.1 overs)

. The first strategic timeout has been called. SRH sit pretty with their score at 70/1 from 9 overs. Pandey (29 from 26) and Warner (32 from 19) look well-settled in the middle.

. Manish Pandey and David Warner have now added 50 runs for the second wicket. The milestone comes after Pandey dispatches Washington Sundar for a monster six over long on, almost sending the ball outside the stadium. (SRH score: 65/1 from 7.3 overs)

. Mohammed Siraj claims the first breakthrough for RCB, dismissing Wriddhiman Saha. Length ball with width on offer, Saha cuts at it fiercely but sends it straight to the safe hands of Glenn Maxwell. (SRH score: 13/1 from 2.2 overs)

. David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha open for the SRH.

. Holder dismisses Maxwell on the last delivery of the innings, as RCB finish with a total of 149/8 from 20 overs. Will be a tricky run chase for SRH on this slow pitch.

. Glenn Maxwell is keeping RCB in the fight, bringing up his seventh IPL fifty. (RCB score: 138/7 from 19.3 overs)

. Jason Holder gets his second wicket, dismissing Kyle Jamieson. The New Zealander goes down the ground, settiung up an easy catch for Manish Pandey at long on. (RCB score: 136/6 from 19.1 overs)

. The wheels are coming off the RCB innings with all-rounders Washington Sundar and Dan Christian both being dismissed in quick succession. Rashid Khan claims Sundar, with Manish Pandey taking another superb catch in the deep, while Christain getting a bottom edge on a wide, full delivery from T Natarajan to set up a regulation catch for Saha. (RCB score: 109/6 from 16.4 overs)

. RCB are under pressure with Rashid Khan dismissing AB de Villiers. The Afghan all-rounder bowls a short one around de Villiers’ off stump, which ‘Mr 360’ slaps straight to David Warner at short cover. RCB have lost their two best batsmen now. (RCB score: 95/4 from 13.4 overs)

. Huge wicket for SRH, as Jason Holder removes Virat Kohli. The RCB skipper has once again failed to convert a start. Looks for the big shot over long on, but only manages to top-edge a short ball. Great effort by Vijay Shankar to take the catch, sprinting a long way from long leg before diving forward to complete the dismissal. (RCB score: 91/3 from 12.1 overs)

. First strategic tiumeout has been called. RCB will look for one of either skipper Kohli (22 from 18) or Glenn Maxwell (7 from 13) to go and get a big score. For now they have to rebuild after two early wickets for SRH. (RCB score: 58/2 from 9 overs).

. SRH get their second breakthrough, with Nadeem emerging victorious in the battle of the ‘Shahbaz’ with Ahmed. The RCB batsman comes down the track in search for a maximum over long-on but mistimes it for Rashid Khan to take a superb running catch behind square on the on side. (RCB score: 47/2 from 6.1 overs).

. Veteran Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar draws first blood for SRH, dismissing youngster Devdutt Padikkal. The 20-year-old opener looks to pull a length delivery at the stumps, but only manages to find Shahbaz Nadeem at mid-wicket. (RCB score: 19/1 after 2.5 overs).

. RCB openers Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal have settled in nicely at the onset, with both scoring boundaries in the first two overs to start the innings.
