Chasing an under-par 134, Rajasthan crossed the line with seven balls to spare. The Royals lost both their openers in the powerplay but a 45-run partnership between Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube (22) stabilised the innings. With an unbeaten 24-run innings in 23 balls, David Miller accompanied Sanju Samson to manage 30 runs in the last five overs. For Kolkata, Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets as Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi finished with one each.
In the first innings, Rajasthan restricted Kolkata to a lowly 133/9. The KKR top-order failed once again as the team stood at 94/5 in the 16th over. Rahul Tripathi top-scored for Kolkata with 36 runs off 26 balls. Morris claimed his best figures in 2021 as Unadkat, Sakariya and Rahman picked one wicket each.

Eoin Morgan in the post-match presentation said that the batting was a letdown. “We lacked a lot of intent throughout the whole innings. We were behind the game right from the get-go. Didn’t put the bowlers under enough pressure. RR adapted to the pitch much better. We were probably 40 short which is a lot in a T20 game,” he said.
