The Delhi franchise of the Indian Premier League changed its name from the Delhi Daredevils to the Delhi Capitals before the league auctions for the 2019 edition.

“Delhi is the power centre of the country, it is the capital, therefore the name Delhi Capitals,” co-owner and chairman Parth Jindal said ahead of the change.

“The new name symbolizes Delhi’s identity and just like the city, we are aiming to be the centre of all action going forward,” co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi said.

The Indian Premier League’s UAE leg is nearing its end with the playoffs set to begin from October 10 next week and the Final is scheduled for October 15.
