Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s young pacer Umran Malik has been creating waves, picking up 15 wickets in 9 matches in the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. He, however, did not have a good game against Chennai Super Kings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on Sunday as he leaked 48 runs in 4 overs with an economy of 12.00.

Speaking to India.com, the 22-year-old’s father, Abdul Rashid, opened up about how his mother got worried after seeing their son getting a beating from the CSK batters.

“Yesterday his mom was very worried as he was getting hit by CSK batters. I told his mom that all bowlers get hit, not just my son. They have also come play and my son is also here to play,” his father said in an exclusive interview with the outlet.

In the same match, Umran Malik bowled the fastest ball of IPL 2022, clocking 154 kmph in the 19th over as he bowled a yorker to CSK skipper MS Dhoni which was dug out for a single. In the 10th over, he had bowled another154kmph delivery. He has also bowled 153.1 and 152.9 kmph this season.

“Umran will play international cricket, no doubt about that. He bowls at 150kmph consistently, and nobody else is doing that in the world right now, maybe Lockie Ferguson is the other guy who does it, but they are very different bowlers. But from an Indian point of view, he is the only guy that consistently bowls over 145-150kmph every single ball, so he will play for India. But how India manages him is completely up to them,” SRH bowling coach Dale Steyn had previously told Sportstar.
