108 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2020 and Glenn Maxwell still managed to clean Royal Challengers Bangalore's purse as he bagged Rs 14.25 crore in the IPL 2021 player auction on Thursday.
The Aussie all-rounder will now join Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the electric lineup that will look to exploit the batting-friendly Chinnaswamy stadium.
'Big show' is how Royal Challengers Bangalore described Maxwell's addition when they took on to Twitter to show off.
Maxwell had been a part of the Punjab Kings in two stints - first from 2014 to 2017 and then in 202 before he was released by the franchise. In the 2020 auctions, the 32-year-old stood as the second most expensive player when he was sold for Rs 10.75 crore only behind his national colleague Pat Cummins.
Glenn Maxwell has always had a quote expensive history in the cash-rich league, being called a 'million dollar baby' when he was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2013. However, his most successful season came in 2014 when the IPL was shifted to the UAE.
RCB with the most number of slots to fill this season warred first with Kolkata Knight Riders and then Chennai Super Kings to secure the services of Glenn Maxwell.
