Australian opener David Warner before being his team’s T20 World Cup hero was dropped from the Indian Premier League side Sunrisers Hyderabad. While the path to glory has been tough, Warner has no complaints about whatever happened between the Hyderabad-based franchise and him.

While it is still not clear why Warner was stripped of the SRH captaincy and then got the axe, the left-handed batter broke his silence on the whole episode.

“When you are dropped from the team you have loved the most for years without any real fault of yours and stripped of captaincy without being given a reason, it hurts. At the same time, there are no complaints,” The Economic Times quoted Warner as saying.

“The fans in India have always been there for me and it is for them that you play. We play to entertain. We play to push for excellence,” Warner told the ET.

David Warner has led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL title in 2016. He only featured in two games in the UAE-leg of the cash-rich league. He said that he was training hard.

“Whatever may have been the reason for me not finding a spot in an IPL team, I can tell you I was training the hardest I ever did. I didn’t miss a single day. I was batting extremely well in the nets and it was only a matter of time before it all started to work out. So yes, while it hurt, I knew I will have another opportunity,” Warner added.

As for his T20 World Cup outing, he played a solid inning in the final against New Zealand, helping his team lift the elusive title for the first time. The left-handed batter scored 289 runs in 7 innings at the World Cup.

The recently-concluded T20 World was played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
