The wait for
the 2021-22 season of the Premier League is almost over with Brentford hosting Arsenal
in the first game of the season on Friday, August 13. As always, the rumour
mills have been generating quite the transfer gossip all summer, but we have
already seen a number of blockbuster signings completed as clubs finalise their
preparations for the new season.

Without
further ado, here’s a look at our picks for the top five players who likely to make

5. Ben
White

Mikel
Arteta has drilled Arsenal into a much more defensively sound unit since his
appointment as head coach, and the arrival of Ben White for £50 million from
Brighton will surely help further address the Gunner’s problems at the back.

There have
been concerns regarding his price tag, given he is still relatively unproven at
the top level and only just made his England debut during the Euro 2020. However,
the 23-year-old is one of the technically proficient players in his group and
given his age, can prove to be a bargain in the future.

4.  Emiliano Buendia

Aston Villa
have had an incredible transfer window so far, signing the likes of Ashley
Young, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings to strengthen their ambitions for European
football. However, the highlight of the window for them will be signing 24-year-old
playmaker Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City for a club-record transfer fee (nearly
€35 million).

The club recognised
Buendia as the successor to Grealish as the creative force in midfield and
outbit Arsenal to land the Argentine.

3. Raphael
Varane

A
28-year-old four-time Champions League, three-time La Liga and World Cup winning
central defender usually commands a world-record transfer fee. But Manchester
United
signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for just £41, making it one the
potential bargains of the summer.

Varane will
be the ideal partner for captain Harry Maguire in the heart of the defence and the
two can forge a formidable centre-back pairing in the years to come.

2. Jack Grealish

Jack
Grealish
became the most expensive English player of all time after his £100 million
move from boyhood club Aston Villa to Manchester City, adding more firepower to
Pep Guardiola’s already stacked attacking options.

And the defending
champions are not done yet, with Tottenham Hotspur striker harry Kane heavily
linked with another record British-record move to the Etihad.

1. Jadon
Sancho

The
Manchester City boy-wonder found his mojo at Borussia Dortmund and his development
as one of the world’s best wingers has earned him a €85 million-move to Manchester
United this summer.

Sancho’s signing
will make for a mouth-watering attacking line-up at Old Trafford, with the
likes of Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Bruno
Fernandes, as United look to wrestle back their throne.
