The Jakhanian assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP) saw Sunil Ram of the Indian National Congress (INC) take on Ramraj Vanvasi (Mushar) of the BJP, Vijay Kumar of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bedi of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), and Somaru Ram of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Triveni Ram of the SBSP had won the seat in 2017 Assembly elections, defeating runner-up Gareeb of the SP by a margin of 5,157 votes.

In the 2012 Assembly election, SP’s Subba Ram had won the seat by defeating the BSP’s Vijay Kumar by a margin of 15,230 votes.

The Jakhanian assembly constituency falls under the Ghazipur district in UP and is one of the five assembly constituencies under the Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Jakhanian assembly constituency voted in the seventh phase of the UP Assembly elections in 2022 on March 7, when 54 assembly seats, spread across 9 districts, went to the polls. UP is voting in seven phases, and the last phase was held on March 7.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with results of elections being held in other states and Union Territories (UTs).
