The Jammu and Kashmir administration has terminated the services of 11 government employees for allegedly passing on information and providing logistical support to terrorist groups active in the Valley.

The accused include two sons of Syed Salahuddin, a most wanted terrorist. The sons — Syed Ahmad Shakeel and Shahid Yousuf — were dismissed for their alleged involvement in terror funding.

“NIA has tracked terror funding trails of both the persons who have been found involved in raising, receiving, collecting and transferring funds through hawala transactions for terror activities of Hizbul Mujahideen,” NDTV quoted a senior government official as saying.

Accused across government departments

Of the 11 employees, four worked in the education department, two in the Jammu and Kashmir police, one in the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, one each in agriculture, skill development, power and health departments.

The two police constables who have been sacked are accused of providing insider information and logistic support to terrorist groups. One of the constables, Abdul Rashid Shigan, has been accused of carrying out attacks on security forces.

Naaz M Allaie, an orderly with the health department, was also among those sacked. He is accused of being an overground worker for the Hizbul Mujahideen and is alleged to have direct involvement in terrorist activities.

Shaheed Ahmad Lone, an inspector with the power department, and an orderly with the Industrial Training Institute in Kupwara are among those dismissed.

Furthering secessionist agenda

Education department employees Jabbar Ahmad Paray and Nisar Ahmad Tantray were sacked for their allegedly active involvement in “furthering the secessionist agenda unleashed by sponsors from Pakistan” and are accused of being Jamaat-e-Islami ideologists, as are the two teachers from Anantnag whose services have been terminated for their alleged participation in ‘anti-national activities’.

No inquiry held

The employees were terminated under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution, under which no inquiry is held. A designated committee probing cases of the sort recommended the terminations.
