The Jangipur assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP) saw Ajay Rajbhar of the Indian National Congress (INC) take on Ramnaresh Kushwah of the BJP, Mukesh of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Veerendra Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), and Kalicharan Singh Yadav of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Virendra Kumar Yadav of the SP had won the seat in 2017 Assembly elections, defeating runner-up Ram Naresh Kushwaha of the BJP by a margin of 3,239 votes.

In the 2012 Assembly election, SP’s Kailash had won the seat by defeating the BSP’s Manish Chandra Pandey by a margin of 9,464 votes.

The Jangipur assembly constituency falls under the Ghazipur district in UP and is one of the five assembly constituencies under the Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Jangipur assembly constituency voted in the seventh phase of the UP Assembly elections in 2022 on March 7, when 54 assembly seats, spread across 9 districts, went to the polls. UP is voting in seven phases, and the last phase was held on March 7.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with results of elections being held in other states and Union Territories (UTs).
