Bihar’s Dumraon assembly constituency elected Ajeet Kumar Singh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) in the 2020 election. He secured 40.76% of the votes, thus, defeating his nearest rival Anjum Ara of Janata Dal (United).

The Dumraon constituency is currently represented by Dadan Singh of Janata Dal-United [JD(U)] who defeated Ram Bihari Singh of  Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) by 30,339 votes, in the 2015 election. The Dumraon seat has been held by JD(U) since 2010, as Dr. Daud Ali before Dadan Singh used to hold the constituency. 

Dumraon is one of the 243 constituencies of Bihar assembly which falls under the Buxar seat of Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament. From 1951 to 1985, the seat, at one time or another, went to the Indian National Congress (INC) and other parties such as the Communist Party of India. However, since 1990, the Congress has never won the seat back. A total of 2,71,708 eligible voters populate the Dumraon assembly constituency. There are 1,45,938 male and 1,25,765 female voters in Dumraon. 

The constituency is composed of  Dumraon, Chaugain, Kesath and Nawanagar community development blocks and comprises Chilhari, Kushalpur, Bhojpur Kadim, Bhojpur Jadid, Chhatanwar, Nuaon, Sowan, Ariaon, Nandan, Lakhan Dihra & Dumraon (M) gram panchayats.
