Actor Kangana Ranaut has amended her petition before the Bombay High Court and will now seek compensation of Rs 2 two crore from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for demolishing a part of her bungalow-cum-office, news agency PTI reported.

The plea filed by Ranaut urges the Bombay High Court to declare the actions taken by the BMC as illegal, it also urges the court to direct the civic body and its ‘concerned officials’ to pay her Rs 2 crore in damages.

The court will hear the matter on September 22.

The BMC’s action at Ranaut’s bungalow had followed her public spat with the Shiv Sena, where the actor compared Mumbai to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

The BMC on September 9 demolished what it termed illegal alterations at the actor’s Pali Hill bungalow in suburban Bandra. The demolition spurred Ranaut to move to court.

A bench of division judges led by Justice S J Kathawalla had the demolition of Ranaut’s property and stated that the civic body’s actions seemed ‘malafide’, as per PTI report.

Ranaut in her amended plea to the Bombay High Court has stated that the BMC’s decision to demolish her property was a direct consequence of her comments against Maharashtra government.

Her plea to the Bombay High Court reads, “Recently she has been at loggerheads with the Government of Maharashtra regarding her views over the handling of certain issues which impact the public in general.”

Ranaut’s petition further adds, “The expression used by her has displeased certain quarters and caused angst in certain quarters particularly a political party which is a part of the government in Maharashtra.”

“In view of various threats been given to the petitioner, including threats of harm if she entered Mumbai, the petitioner was compelled to seek the assistance/security and was given protection by the Central Government in nature Y-plus category of CRPF security and the petitioner could only come to Mumbai under protection,” the petition states.
