Answer: Aristotle

Aristotle was a Greek philosopher and polymath during the classical period in Ancient Greece. He was taught by Plato and was the founder of the Lyceum, the Peripatetic School of Philosophy and the Aristotelian tradition.

He developed a library in Lyceum, where he wrote his collection of hundreds of books on papyrus scrolls. His teachings have greatly shaped medieval scholarship.

His writings and teachings covered many subjects, including physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, eithics, aesthetics, poetry, theater, music, rhetoric, psychology, linguistics, economics, politics, and others.

According to what is also known as ‘Aristotle’s biology’, there are five major bilogical processes including metabolism, temperature regulation, inheritance, information processing and embryogenesis.

According to legend, he travelled to the Agean island of Lesvos, which was teeming with flora and fauna, which he was fascinated by during his stay there. This led to his studies into the subject and eventually to the formation of a new branch of science, Biology.
