Sunny Leone, the highly celebrated Bollywood entertainer, can breathe a sign of relief as the Kerala High Court has restrained the police from arresting her in the alleged Rs 29 lakh fraud case. This comes after the actor moved to the court for anticipatory bail in the case filed against her by a Kerala-based event manager.

Leone was allegedly supposed to show up at a Valentine’s Day event in 2019  that was being organised by R Shiyas, a native of Perumbavoor, Kerala, but failed to do so. The complaint has been lodged against Sunny on the grounds of accepting Rs 29 Lakh as the fee for the event and then not showing up.

As per the complainant, Sunny Leone had failed to show up at the event despite accepting the lump sum amount for doing the show. On the hand, the ‘Ragini MMS’ actress has defended herself by justifying she had visited the venue twice but the program was not being held. 

She has since been interrogated by the crime branch of Kochi in Thiruvananthapuram. As per Leone and her husband Daniel Weber’s plea, they are ready to fully cooperate in the entire investigation, maintaining that they are innocent have also submitted all documents pertaining to transactions related to the case.  

They also submitted that Rs 2 crore has been demanded by Shuyas as compensation. As per them, the organisers tried to “exploit and cheat the petitioners by compelling them to participate in shows prepared by him without paying the agreed consideration.”

Leone has also said that a balance of Rs. 12 Lakh is pending for payment. Further proceedings are awaited.
