Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala government has decided to bring out an ordinance to withdraw the amendment, Section 118A to Kerala Police Act, reported PTI quoting government sources on Tuesday. 

A special cabinet, which met in the afternoon, has decided to recommend Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan to issue an ordinance to repeal the Section 118A,  brought by the left front government that got his assent on Saturday. 

“Cabinet has decided to bring out an ordinance to withdraw the amendment,” government sources told PTI.

The Kerala governor had said that the act ordinance for the addition of Section 118A to the Kerala Police Act envisaged preventing cyber attacks against women and children. 

Opposition parties and even Left sympathisers had slammed the ordinance, saying it was against the freedom of speech and media.
