West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard on Thursday smashed six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya to become only the third international cricketer, after India’s Yuvraj Singh and South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs, to do so.

Chasing a 132-run target in the T20I series opener at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda, the home side went from 52/0 to 52/3, losing the wickets of Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran without scoring a run.

Skipper Pollard walked in and changed the game in the next over, scoring 36 runs off the sixth over to help his side eventually claim a four-wicket victory.

Here are all the other batsmen to have achieved that in international and domestic cricket:

1. Sir Garfield Sobers

The West Indies all-rounder was the first-ever cricketer to achieve the feat of scoring six sixes in an over, which he did as captain for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan on August 31, 1968.

Sobers smashed five sixes from five Malcolm Nash deliveries and was caught on the boundary on the sixth, however, the fielder – Roger Davis – carried the ball over the rope resulting in the first over to have six sixes.

2. Ravi Shashtri

The current Indian coach was known for his defensive abilities as a batsman, but changed that perception on January 19, 1985 when he became the second cricketer to score six sixes in an over.

He achieved the feat against left-arm spinner Tilak Raj in a match for Bombay against Baroda.

3. Herschelle Gibbs

The explosive South African batsman became the first international player to hit all six deliveries of an over for a six achieving the feat against the Netherlands during the 2007 World Cup. He is till the only player to have completed the feat in a 50-over World Cup game.

4. Yuvraj Singh

India’s beloved southpaw put in man-of-the-tournament performances in both the 2007 T20I and 2011 ODI World Cup wins. But it was his rampage against England’s Stuart Broad in 2007 that he is perhaps most remembered for.

After a heated exchange with Andrew Flintoff, Singh took a hapless Broad to the cleaners, dispatching for six sixes with exquisite timing and shot-selection.

5. Ross Whitley

English batsman Ross Whitley joined the exclusive club in July 2017 during a match for the Worcestershire Rapids against the Yorkshire Vikings in a T20 Blast Match.

Whitley’s heroics, however, went in vain as the Rapids lost.

6. Hazratullah Zazai

Hazratullah Zazai smashed six consecutive maximums in a Afghanistan Premier League (T20) match for the Kabul Zwanan against the Balkh Legends in October 2018.

7. Leo Carter

The New Zealand cricketer smashed 36 runs in an over during a Super Smash competition T20 match for the Canterbury Kings against the Northern Knights in January, 2020.
