Marking
the latest development in the continuing power feud between Puducherry Chief Minister
and Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, the Communist Party of India (CPI) Secreatry,
AM Salim on Sunday called for Bedi’s immediate removal citing that she blocked all the
welfare schemes in the Union Territory, ANI reports.

“She stopped all welfare schemes. She’s acting against welfare scheme, Puducherry development scheme and Union Territory Act,” said Puducherry CPI Secretary.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, who has been accusing Bedi of halting development plans, took the demonstration to the roads as the agitation entered its third day.

The four-day ongoing protest also saw support from other opposition parties and senior leaders of alliance partners CPI, CPI(M), VCK. They were seen carrying posters and placards, reading “Go Back Bedi” and “Bedi you go go”.

However, the DMK, which is Congress’s bigger alliance partner in the government, did not take part in the agitation.

For those unversed, the ruling alliance, led by the Congress, in Puducherry initiated a four-day political demonstration on Friday asking Centre to call back Kiran Bedi, as she is allegedly hindering elected government’s functioning.
