Kishni assembly constituency has Brajesh Kumar of the Samajwadi Party (SP) taking on Dr. Priya Ranjan Ashu Diwakar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pappu of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Prabhu Dayal of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Dr. Vijay Narain Singh of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Brajesh Kumar had won the Kishni seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Brajesh Kumar had beaten his closest rival Sunil Kumar by over 16,529 votes. Sunil Kumar had contested that election on a BJP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Brajesh Katheriya of the SP.

Kishni falls under the Mainpuri district and the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats.

Mulayam Singh Yadav of the SP represented Mainpuri as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Yadav defeated Prem Singh Shakya from the BJP with a margin of 9,43,89 votes.

The Kishni assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 58 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
