Lakhimpur assembly constituency has Yogesh Verma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Dr. Ravi Shankar Trivedi of the Indian National Congress (INC), Utkarsh Verma Madhur of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Mohan Bajpai of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Khushi Kinnar of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Yogesh Verma had won the Lakhimpur seat in 2017. Verma had beaten his closest rival Utkarsh Verma Madhur by over 37,748 votes. Madhur had contested that election on a SP ticket.  

In 2012, the seat was won by Utkarsh Verma Madhur of the SP.

Lakhimpur falls under the Lakhimpur Kheri district and the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of nine assembly seats.

Pradan Baruah of the BJP represented Lakhimpur as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Baruah defeated Anil Borgohain from the INC with a margin of 3,50,551 votes. 

The Lakhimpur assembly constituency will vote in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 23, 2022, along with 59 other constituencies in nine districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
