After his side’s win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, Delhi
Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant applauded leg
spinner Amit Mishra and all-rounder Lalit Yadav, while adding that the latter
was being groomed and had a bright prospect when it came pitches such as
Chepauk.

The Capitals, on Tuesday, secured a six-wicket victory over
the defending champions with five balls to spare, after a 45-run knock from
opener Shikhar Dhawan saw DC chase down the 137-run target successfully despite
a tense last phase, where impactful innings from Yadav (22*) and Shimron Hetmyer
(14) helped them seal the deal.

“We’re trying to groom him. We thought in these kinds of
wickets he can do wonders, and it’s good to see some maturity from him”, Pant
said in the post-match press conference.

“Maybe one-odd boundary more in the partnership where I was
batting with Lalit would have helped us get ahead a little bit more”, Shikhar
Dhawan, on the other hand, stated after the match.

Yadav, apart from scoring 22 runs, picked up a wicket too, at the expense of 17 runs from his four overs.

Earlier in the first innings, four key wickets by Amit
Mishra saw Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Jayant Yadav leave
the crease and helped keep the score low, which, due to the later ploughing
from Dhawan (45) and Steve Smith (33) became, all the more accessible for the
Capitals.

Having played four matches and winning three of them, DC are
right now in the second position in the IPL 2021 points table with six points.
