India’s
drugs regulator, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), on Sunday had
approved the use of Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield and Covaxin for
emergency use in India’s massive vaccination drive. Covishield is manufactured
by the Serum Institute along with AstraZeneca while Covaxin has been indigenously
developed by the Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of
Medical Research (ICMR).

Now, as the
vaccination drive began on Saturday, many people in the country wish to know
about all the necessary documents that are needed for registrations
of eligible beneficiary for COVID-19 vaccination. For this, the Central
government has provided a complete list of required documents for COVID-19
vaccination. Check the list here:

-Aadhar/Driving License/Voter ID/PAN Card/Passport/Job
Card/Pension Document

-Health
Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of labour

-Mahatma Gandhi
National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)

-Official
identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs

-Passbooks
issued by Bank/Post Office

-Service ID
Card issued by Central/State Government/ Public Limited Companies

You have to
produce any of the above mentioned ID proofs along with a photograph at the
time of registration.

Prime
Minister Narendra Modi has referred the vaccine approval as a decisive turning
point in India’s fight against novel coronavirus pandemic. “DCGI
granting approval to vaccines of @SerumInstIndia and @BharatBiotech accelerates
the road to a healthier and COVID-free nation. Congratulations India.
Congratulations to our hardworking scientists and innovators,” PMO tweeted.
“It would make every Indian proud that the two vaccines that have been
given emergency use approval are made in India! This shows the eagerness of our
scientific community to fulfil the dream of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, at the root
of which is care and compassion,” he wrote in another tweet.

Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum
Institute of India also tweeted, “COVISHIELD, India’s first COVID-19
vaccine is approved, safe, effective and ready to roll-out in the coming
weeks.”
