At Delhi’s Batra Hospital 12 people, including their own doctor, died on Saturday after they had run out of medical oxygen for some time, reports news agency ANI. The hospital told this Delhi High Court, which was listening into the oxygen shortage in the national capital on Saturday.

The hospital said that it ran out of oxygen at around 12.45 pm and re-supply came at 1.30 pm. “We were out of oxygen for 1 hour and 20 mins,” Batra hospital told Delhi High Court. After this, the court responded, saying, “We hope no lives were lost.” To this, the hospital said, “We have… including one of our own… one doctor,” quots NDTV.

The Delhi High Court on this told the hospital to set up their own  oxygen plant, reports ANI. 

According to an NDTV report, the hospital had informed the court at 12.01 pm that it is running out of medical oxygen.

“We are in SOS since 6 am today morning, we have 307 patients admitted, out of whom 230 are on oxygen support,” Batra Hospital told the high court, quotes ANI. 

Several hospitals in the national capital are facing an acute shortage of medical oxygen, as last week too, Delhi’s Jaipur Golden Hospital said that 20 COVID-19 patients died due to a shortage of Oxygen.

The high court on Saturday suggested the Delhi government take the help of the Armed Forces to set up more infrastructure in the national capital and directed the Centre to ensure that 4 oxygen tankers (having Haryana Number) allocated to Delhi, reports ANI.
