Madhuban assembly constituency has Ramvilash Chauhan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Umesh Pandey of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Neelam Singh Kushwaha of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Amaresh Chandra Pandey of the Indian National Congress (INC) and Kishan Lal Gond of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Dara Singh Chauhan of the BJP had won the Madhuban seat in 2017 when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Chauhan had beaten his closest rival Amresh Chand by over 29,415 votes. Chand had contested that election on a Congress ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Umesh Pandey of the BSP. 

Madhuban falls under the Mau district and the Sheohar Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of six assembly seats.

Rama Devi of the BJP represented Sheohar as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Devi defeated Syed Faisal Ali from the Rashtriya Janata Dal with a margin of 3,40,360 votes.

The Madhuban assembly constituency will vote in the seventh phase and the last round of the Uttar Pradesh elections on March 7, 2022, along with 53 other constituencies in 9 districts.  

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
