The Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the home of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister
Manish Sisodia
on Friday morning, including 20 other locations. The raids are
part of the CBI’s probe into Aam Aadmi Party’s liquor policy that was scrapped
last month. Here are 7 things you need to know about the raid at Manish Sisodia’s
residence:

1.       CBI raided 21 locations across seven
states. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s residence was one of them. CBI also
raided Former Delhi Excise Commissioner A Gopalakrishna’s home in Daman and
Diu, according to officials.

2.       CBI has filed a First Information
Report (FIR) and is probing allegations of corruption in the new Delhi Excise
Policy launched by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in November, under
which liquor licenses were handed out to private players.

3.       After CBI officials arrived to raid
Manish Sisodia’s home, the Delhi Deputy CM tweeted: “CBI is here at my residence.
I will cooperate with the probe agency, they will not find anything against me.”

4.       Sisodia said the Narendra Modi-led
central government was “troubled” by the “excellent work done by the Delhi
government in the health and education sector.” According to Sisodia, this is
why both he and Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain are being targeted. Satyendra
Jain has been in prison since May.

5.       Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief
Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo, said he had predicted that his deputy
Manish Sisodia would be targeted by probe agencies. “Welcome to CBI. Will cooperate
fully. There have been many tests/raids in the past as well. Nothing came out,
still nothing will come out,” Sisodia said.

6.       The Aam Aadmi Party claims the
Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government has been consistently targeting its
ministers in order to crush its rivals. Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that the CBI
landed on Manish Sisodia’s doorstep the “day on which the Delhi education model
was praised and Manish Sisodia’s picture was printed on the front page of
America’s largest newspaper NYT.”

7.       The CBI probe into Delhi’s liquor
policy was ordered by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena. The LG’s
recommendation came after the Delhi Chief Secretary filed a report in July alleging
violation of rules and “deliberate and gross procedural lapses.”
