In a massive power outage in the commercial capital of India, electricity supply to Mumbai has been interrupted on Monday due to TATA’s incoming electric supply failure, ANI reported, quoting Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport.

Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are currently without any power supply, according to TV reports. Mumbai Suburban train services have also been disrupted due to grid failure, Central Railways Chief Public Relations Officers (CPRO) said.

“At 10.10 am there were simultaneous substation tripping in MSETCL’s Kalwa, Kharghar causing a huge dip in frequency in Mumbai transmission system which led to tripping of power supply,” Tata Power said.

The restoration work is in progress to bring electricity supply from three Hydro and Trombay units, it added.

The stoppage of trains caused disruption in the morning commute of office goers, resulting in swelling of crowds at several railway stations. However, TV reports suggest that operations at Mumbai airport were not hit.
