Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached Varanasi on Monday to mark the occasion of Dev Diwali claimed that the statue of the Annapurna deity which was stolen over 100 years ago, will soon be given back to India.

Addressing the gathering at Raj Ghat, Prime Minister said, “It’s a matter of great pride that the statuette of the Annapurna deity which was stolen over 100 years ago, is now on its way back to India.”

Calling the spiritual idols India’s lifelong treasure, Modi further added, “It’s our great fortune that ‘Mata Annapurna’ will come back to her original home. Statues of our deities are part of our priceless legacy.” 

He also rapped his opponent party, Congress by saying that many such idols would have made their way to the country if the previous government paid attention in protecting the culture and legacy of India.

Modi then, went on to say that for his government, culture and tradition is of utmost priority and would never compromise it for anyone’s sake.

Insinuating at Gandhi family, Modi further targeted them by saying, “For us, heritage means our culture, our faith, our values, our inheritance. For them, inheritance means his statues, his family photos.” quoted ANI.
