Terrorists opened fire at a bunker of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) injuring an officer in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The incident which took place at about 8:45 PM came hours after security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Baramulla district.

The militants fired upon the bunker of 18 battalion of CRPF outside their camp at Nihama in the south Kashmir district. An assistant sub-inspector of the force was injured in the firing, news agency PTI quoted a police official, as saying.

Earlier in the day, three security personnel were killed in an attack carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in Baramulla district. The forces launched a counter operation after the attack and shot down two in an ecounter.

“The two killed militants have been identified. One of them is Sajad Haider alias ‘Jaja’ a resident of Dangerpora Sopore. He was a militant since 2016, and was active like (former Hizbul Mujahideen commander) Burhan Wani in the north Kashmir belt,” Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh reporters at a press conference in Srinagar

CRPF Constable Lokesh Sharma and Constable Khurshid Khan of 119 Battalion and Jammu and Kashmir Police SPO Muzaffar Ali were killed in the Baramulla attack.
