Mungra Badshahpur assembly constituency has Ajay Dubey of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Pankaj of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Dinesh Kumar Shukla of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Pramod Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Sushma Patel of the BSP had won the Mungra Badshahpur seat in 2017 when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Patel had beaten her closest rival Seema Dwivedi by over 5,920 votes. Dwivedi had contested that election on a BJP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Seema Dwivedi of the BJP. 

Mungra Badshahpur falls under the Jaunpur district and the Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats.

Shyam Singh Yadav of BSP represented Jaunpur as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Yadav defeated Krishna Pratap Singh from the  BJP with a margin of 80,936  votes.

The Mungra Badshahpur assembly constituency will vote in the seventh phase and the last round of the Uttar Pradesh elections on March 7, 2022, along with 53 other constituencies in 9 districts.  

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
