Madhya
Pradesh police on Thursday arrested most-wanted criminal Vikas Dubey, confirmed
state health Minister Narottam Mishra. “Vikas is in the custody of Ujjain
police. He was nabbed once he stepped out of Mahakal temple in Ujjain. Whatever
he did is extremely condemnable,” Mishra said.

A
deputy superintendent of police, three sub-inspectors and four constables, were
killed late on Thursday, when a team of Uttar Pradesh police went to arrest Dubey
in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.

In
a very well-planned attack, the gangster and his men first put up roadblocks on
the approach road to Dikru village, which is 150 km from Lucknow, and then
ambushed the team, drawn from three police stations.

Dubey,
a history-sheeter has 60 cases registered against him, for crimes which
include murder, robberies and kidnappings

·       
In
another daring attack, he murdered a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and
then minister of state Santosh Shukla inside the Shivli police station in 2001.
Dubey was named as the main accused in that case

Dubey
was a member the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), then, Times of India reported.
Dubey, who was known as ‘Shivli’s don’ surrendered before the court and was granted
bail a few months later

In
another murder case, he was convicted and sentenced to life for the murder
of Siddheshwar Pandey, the principal and assistant manager of Tarachand
Inter College, in 2000. He was later released on bail

He
also allegedly conspired from the jail, in the murder of Rambabu Yadav,
the same year, Zee News reported.

In
2004, he was accused of the murder of a cable TV businessman, Dinesh Dubey

·       
He
was also accused of conspiring a deadly attack against his cousin Anurag Dubey,
from within the premises of Mati jail. Anurag’s wife named four persons
for the attack, including Vikas Dubey

Vikas
Dubey has also tried his hand at politics and contested won the Nagar
Panchayat elections, while in jail. His wife is presently a member of the
district panchayat. Having created his own army of loyal supporters, he is
reported to have connections with all four major political parties in Uttar
Pradesh
