The medal winners of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games gifted their
sports equipment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting. A number
of these items had been put on auction on the PM’s birthday.

The auction is being organised by the Ministry of Culture and
October 7 has been set as the last date for bidding. The proceeds from the e-auction
will contribute towards the ‘Namami Gange’ project.

A javelin gifted by Neeraj Chopra who was India’s first
Gold Medal winner in Tokyo Olympics 2020 has received a bid for Rs 10,00,00,000.
Chopra tossed a throw of 87.58 metre which was enough to get him the top spot on
the podium.

Lovlina Borgohain’s blue boxing gloves have also
received a bid for Rs 10,00,00,000. The boxer won a bronze medal in the welterweight
classification. The blue coloured gloves have been signed and used by the boxer herself.

A discus autographed by Yogesh Kathuniya, the silver medalist at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games has also received a bid of Rs 10,00,000. The red-coloured discus has been signed by Yogesh along with a ‘Thank
You’.

A hockey stick that contains the signatures of the entire women’s
hockey team, which represented India at the Tokyo Olympics has received a bid of Rs 10,00,00,000. The stick’s model number is Rani 28, which points to the team’s
captain Rani Rampal who wears the number 28 jersey for India.

Sumit Antil won the country another Gold Medal at the
Tokyo Paralympic Games in the javelin throw F64 category. His yellow,
autographed javelin has received a bid of Rs 9,99,99,000.

PV Sindhu finished third in this year’s Olympic Games.
She became the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive
medals at the Olympic games. The world badminton champion’s signed badminton
racket and bag have received a bid of Rs 9,00,00,100.

Several other items are available on sale on the Prime
Minister’s mementos site. These include signed equipment and jerseys of India’s
representatives at the Olympics.
