A notice that is doing the rounds on social media platforms claims that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will take place on September 5, 2021. However, the National Testing Agency (NTA), has discredited the notice.

Talking to news18.com, an NTA official said that “the dates for the exam are yet to be decided.”

On average, 14 lakh students appear for NEET every year. But this year’s application form hasn’t been released yet.

As per the last updated news, NEET 2021 is scheduled to be held on August 1. However, due to logistical reasons, it is highly likely that it will be held on the said date.

Usually, application forms are released at least 60 days prior to the examination.

Since NEET is an offline, one-day exam, the onus will be on the NTA to be able to conduct a safe event, keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions. Last year, the NTA had to double the number of exam centres.

Since the Centre had earlier announced that it will offer internal choices, the exam pattern is expected to be out soon, news18 reported.

In 2020, NEET was held in September. Officials in the Ministry of Education had earlier said that this year, NEET could be postponed till September. News agency PTI, along with several media houses, had earlier reported that the Centre was thinking of delaying the exam.

Earlier today, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that the third edition of the engineering entrance exam JEE-Mains will be held from July 20 to 25, and the fourth edition from July 27-August 2. The results of the two editions will likely be announced in August.
