Bollywood actor and environmentalist Juhi Chawla uploaded a video on her IGTV, stating the reason behind her petition against the implementation of the fifth-generation technology or 5G.
She starts the video by explaining how the case has created so much noise that the message intended to be delivered got lost. According to the actor, the new technology will expose the environment to high levels of radiation causing irreversible damage.
“No person, animal, bird, insect and plant on earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to radiation 10x to 100x times greater than what exists today”, she said in the video.
The 53-year-old actress said that her fight is not against 5G but she and her team is just looking for certification by the authorities declaring 5G as safe for the environment.

“All we’re asking is that you certify this, publish the studies and research in the public domain so that the fear we have goes away. So that we can all sleep in peace. We just want to know that it is safe for children, for pregnant women, for unborn children, for people who are old, inform, for flora, fauna… that is all we are asking,” the ‘Yes Boss’ actor said in her video which was a little less than 1.5 minutes”.
Delhi High Court dismissed Chawla’s petition and fined her 20 lakh rupees, calling the petition a publicity stunt.
“Plaintiff has no personal knowledge of the plaint” said the bench during the hearing on June 5.
The hearing was repeatedly disturbed by intruders as Chawla had shared the link of the hearing on her social media. It was also briefly interrupted when someone started singing songs from her film.
